Who You Are Dealing With
Mission Garage Door Co works on garage doors and openers at houses in Mission, TX and the surrounding area. We don't run a call center that dispatches whoever's closest and we don't upsell a new opener when a $40 part will do. We look at the door, tell you what's wrong, and give you a number before any work starts.
Most of the houses we see were built between 1987 and 2005, which is the stretch that covers the bulk of this part of the valley. That matters for a quote because doors and openers from that era use spring sizes, track widths, and mounting setups that newer production-home doors don't. A chain-drive opener installed in 1994 isn't the same job as a belt-drive from 2015, even if the symptom - door won't open - sounds identical on the phone.
We're not a franchise with a name on a truck leased from somewhere else. One address, one shop, one crew that answers the phone when you call.
How to Reach Us
Call (956) 552-8925. If you'd rather have someone look at the door in person before quoting, we're at 4101 S Shary Rd, Mission, TX 78572 - that's the address to use if you're dropping off a part or picking something up, not a walk-in retail counter.
When you call, have the door's measurements if you know them (width and height), the brand on the opener if there's a label still legible, and whether the problem is the door itself, the opener, or something that sounds like both (grinding, slow travel, door reversing on its own). None of that is required to get someone out to look, but it saves a callback.
Work We Turn Down
We don't quote a torsion spring replacement, a full panel swap, or a track realignment sight-unseen over the phone. Spring sizing depends on the door's actual weight and the drum setup on the shaft, and that varies enough across the 1980s-90s housing stock in this area that a phone guess is often wrong by one full spring size. Wrong spring size means a door that's hard to lift or one that slams - neither is a fix we're willing to put our name on.
We also won't tell you a wood door from the older part of the housing stock is a quick patch job when the bottom rail has already rotted from heat and humidity cycling. In a climate band this hot, wood doors take a beating over the years, and sometimes the honest number is a replacement quote, not a repair ticket. If a door is structurally shot, we'll say so rather than charge you for a patch that fails again in a season.
What we can't do over the phone: give you a firm dollar figure on spring, panel, or full-door jobs without seeing the hardware and the opening. We can give you a range once we know the door size and rough age.
What We Actually Do
We work on garage doors and openers - springs, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, openers, and the sensors and remotes that go with them. That's the scope. We don't do general contracting, fencing, or anything past the garage door and the wall it's mounted to.
We serve Mission and the towns close by: Palmview South, Palmview, Palmhurst, West Sharyland, Abram, La Homa, Alton, Doffing, Penitas, Hidalgo, Pharr, Citrus City, La Joya, San Juan, Lopezville, North Alamo, Alamo, South Alamo, César Chávez, Sullivan City, Doolittle, San Carlos, Donna, Midway North, Midway South, and La Blanca.
What makes a phone quote accurate: the door's width and height, how many panels, whether it's steel, wood, or aluminum, the opener brand if there is one, and what specifically it's doing wrong - won't open, opens partway, makes noise, remote doesn't work. What can't be priced sight-unseen: spring replacement (needs the actual spring wound and drum size), any job where the door has come off track or a panel is bent, and anything where rot or rust has gotten into the frame. Those need eyes on the door first.
Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a price over the phone?
For simple parts like a remote, a sensor, or a roller, often yes. For springs, panels, or anything involving the door's weight or alignment, no - we need to see the door and the opening first. Guessing on spring size leads to doors that are hard to lift or slam shut, and we won't quote that blind.
Do you work outside Mission itself?
Yes. We cover the surrounding area including Palmview, Palmhurst, Alton, La Joya, San Juan, Donna, and the other nearby towns listed on this page. Call and tell us where you are and we'll confirm.
My door is original to the house - is it worth repairing?
Depends on what's wrong. A lot of the housing stock here dates to the late 1980s through mid-2000s, and doors from that run can usually still take new springs, rollers, or cables. If the panels themselves are rotted or rusted through, replacement is usually the more honest answer than another patch.
What information do you need to quote an opener replacement?
The brand and model of your current opener if it's legible, your door's size, and whether you want belt or chain drive. If the existing opener's mounting bracket is damaged we may need to see it in person before giving a firm number.
